Women/Trans/Femme in Horticulture

In early October, RINLA members and employees, along with other contacts from within plant-based industries, gathered at The Guild in Pawtucket for a networking opportunity. The gathering was a continuation of an event we held last summer at Tilted Barn. It was an opportunity for socialization and collaboration for anyone who self-identifies as a woman, transgender, femme, female, genderqueer or nonbinary and works in the horticultural industry. The group who came to the gathering primarily represented business owners, including others in supervisory roles within our industry.

Unlike last year’s event, this meeting was not a facilitated discussion. Instead it was an opportunity to connect and network with peers. We enjoyed a lovely evening of conversations and laughter. The hope is to continue to grow this community and support system within our industry with more networking events and opportunities to discuss topics related to horticulture. One suggestion of the evening was even to start a horticultural book club! Thanks to The Guild for hosting us! We look forward to more opportunities to gather.
