Terri Maine of the Department of Transportation hosted member businesses at DOT Medical Express in Narragansett for an evening alongside the Rhode Island State Troopers Truck Squad to discuss the process of commercial vehicle inspections. Members brought their trucks and trailers for demonstration. Business owners and vehicle operators asked questions to learn about federal and local regulations concerning the transporting of goods and materials, and the requirements of drivers to avoid fines or the impounding of their vehicles. Members were encouraged to ensure all lights and signals are in good working order, to have all necessary paperwork accessible, and all safety equipment present within the vehicle before traveling. This gathering was complete with food and refreshments, as well as the opportunity for medical card exams.
