Sally Johnson, RINLA member, owner of Ecoastal Design, and board member of the Rhode Island Wild Plant Society, enthusiastically hosted almost our entire cohort of apprentices at her house in Riverside for an evening of refreshments and design-talk, showcasing her impressive spread of native-heavy gardens throughout her property. Included in her tour was the green roof she and her husband built on the second-floor balcony of her home overlooking the water. The tour culminated with a challenge made to all apprentices present to be the first to locate and identify three plants in her gardens – one native, one invasive, and one well-behaved non-native.
