Apprenticeship soils workshop

What makes soil “good”? A group of a dozen Registered Apprentices gathered at Building 75 at URI’s East Farm for a workshop about soils, facilitated by RINLA Executive Director and URI Professor Emeritus, Dr. W. Michael Sullivan. Dr. Sullivan provided not only technical and scientific information about soil physics and chemistry, but also hands-on activities for the Apprentices to experience different soil types and characteristics. Apprentices brought in their own soil samples for discussion and performed soil tests, core sampling, profiling, and other activities.
